Corona Virus pandemic is an unprecedented event for the world. This is not a war to be fought by just the government. The citizen and civil society at large has an equal role to play and civil society organizations need to work, facilitate and collaborate with the government in the times to come.
Empower Foundation has been working on areas like Wildlife conservation and youth development since a decade. Under the recent directives of NITI Aayog, Government of India, Team Empower has started working for #MigrantWorkers amidst the Corona Virus #Lockdown and has been able to reach out 2500+ migrants helping with 30000+ meals across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Surat, Solapur, Sangli, Amravati, Aurangabad to help them with food, ration and allied. The efforts still continue and the team is dedicated to support the needy throughout the pandemic
How can you help ?
(1) Migrant Connect :
Migrants can reach out on a centralized National Migrant Helpline Number 9810408888. Please share this number with Pan-India workers who are in distress. Anyone aware of migrants can Tweet to @empower__org or call on 9819438900 / 9930881222
(2) Join Covid19 War Room :
Please connect on the above numbers to join the Team #CoronaWarriors – you can work from home by using social media and phone to connect the migrants with government authorities or if you want to provide services on grounds (depending on government regulations and circumstances on the date).
(3) Donate :
You can also donate towards providing Ration to distressed families in Covid 19. It is because of generous people like you that we have been able to ensure supply of food or ration to the workers.
You can donate a minimum of Rs 1000/- per family. We will ensure that your contribution reaches in form of ration or food to the needy and a picture and the number of the needy family will be shared with you with a thank you note on social media. You can do bulk donation (We had a group donating ration for 100 families). We also have direct requests from Hospitals for PPE kits and masks and can line up a discussion with the authorities directly. All the contribution would be subject to deduction under 80G of Income Tax Act and a receipt cum 80G certificate will be provided to the donor.
